There are seven reported associations for the file extension .cdd; some are verified, some are not. None of the associations stands out as the most common, so they will be addressed here in alphabetical order beginning with the Balder Multiboot configuration file. Balder Multiboot was a system administration tool from HCData that could be used to create custom installations of Windows NT based operating Systems. The utility could reportedly apply drivers, hotfixes, service packs, documents, and help files independently to multiple installations. The .cdd file this software created was a configuration file containing the specifics of what to apply to each installation. The software has not been available for several years and no other information has been found.

I really do love FileCure because it's so easy to use - you don't have to be some kind of computer guru to get just what you need!

Plug and play? Not even close. I spent a lot of time trying to get my new, so-called 'plug and play' scanner to work. I was about ready to take it back. ParetoLogic FileCure got it working and saved me a needless trip (and gas!!) back to the store.

I have to admit I'm no computer geek. When something goes wrong, I usually have to call someone to fix it and it costs me a lot of money. When my printer wouldn't work, a friend of mine suggested I try ParetoLogic FileCure a try. I figured it was worth a shot because I was going to have to pay for a geek anyway. I was so happy when it worked... and worked properly!

I figured the graphics card my grandson gave me was broken when I couldn't get it work on my computer. It turns out that I just didn't have the right driver. ParetoLogic FileCure got it workin.

Hello FileCure folks:
I can't thank you enough for this great product. I just bought a new Vista machine and had been having all kinds of problems. First it was my screen and once I got that fixed it was the printer . Finally, my son suggested I try your product. It worked great and continues to keep my computer working. Thanks you.

I hate paying a lot of money for anything. That's why I buy mostly used computer equipment. Last week I thought I got taken when I bought a scanner. It just would not work. ParetoLogic Driver Cure got it working. With the updates, it makes sure my stuff will keep working and that I don't have to pay more money.

I work at a school so my mom thinks I am some kind of computer whiz. I have wasted so much time trying to get her stuff to work. Our IT guy suggested I try ParetoLogic FileCure. It has been a godsend and has saved me a lot of wasted hours. My mom and I can't thank you enough.

My wife bought me a new Vista system, and ever since I have had problems with some of my hardware. I saw FileCure, and decided to give it a shot. Ever since, the Vista and my hardware have been working great. Thanks!

I upgraded my system to Vista, and my printer started to act funny. No error messages, but it just wasn't working quite right. I read that drivers could sometimes be the problem. I looked online and saw FileCure. After downloading FileCure, my printer works great. You guys rock!

The second association of the .cdd extension reports the file as a CADAM drawing. Dassault Systemes offers six products as part of CADAM Drafting family, designed for implementation in 2D industrial design. CADAM uses the .cdd extension to label its drawing files. The format is proprietary and not usable by other software, but CADAM products allow a pseudo exporting of the drawing using the Windows clipboard. As the file is loaded into the clipboard it is interpreted as a bit-mapped image which can then be pasted into another application and saved in a standard image format.

CADAM software was originally developed for the Unix environment then ported to Windows. Two very common errors occur for Windows users as a result of this port. The first error results when designers attempt to give read/write/execution permissions to all users. Under the Unix system, the owner execute bit is used to tell the software that a specific drawing has plot data. If the permissions for all drawings are set to 777, those without plot data are mishandled by the software. The company suggests setting permissions to 666 instead. The second error causes an "invalid group" message when trying to open a .cdd drawing. This again is caused by Windows not correctly using file permissions. Windows users must move the .cdd file into the CADAM program's 'drawings' directory (or a sub directory thereof) before it can be opened.
Cadifra, a UML Editing tool for Windows is the third program using the .cdd file extension. Cadifra uses the .cdd file extension for its drawing files. It is an XML based format for which the publishers freely offer the schema for download. It can be opened and edited in any standard text editor or web authoring tool. If one understands how to construct UML drawings, he could in theory, write all the code in a text editor, save the file as a .cdd, and then open and edit it using Cadifra. With that said, only the Cadifra software is able to take the XML data and render it as a drawing for display. Any other attempt to open this file will result in a text only presentation.
CD-Architect is the next program on our list. This program from Sony is a professional grade authoring and mastering tool for creating audio CDs. The .cdd file in this case has been reported as a driver file utilized by the software for specific CDR hardware, but this is unconfirmed. Chromeleon Chromatography Software also reportedly uses the file extension on its device driver files, but again, this has not been verified.
Claris Draw, the last in the line of Apple's MacDraw products was dropped in 1997 when Claris was discontinued. Version 1.2 files were given the .cdd extension, which in theory could still be opened by a variety of modern graphics software packages. Adobe Illustrator and Corel Draw have been mentioned as possibilities, but to date their support of .cdd is unknown. Users of Claris Draw indicate the software can export .cdd files in other formats including .eps and .ccg. There are several reports claiming that the software has this function but that it doesn't work properly.
The final association for the .cdd file is with ConceptDraw, a commercial product for business and technical diagramming. It produces flowcharts, graphs, diagrams, floor plans, etc. The .cdd format is the standard proprietary format used by ConceptDraw; it cannot be opened or utilized by any other software. The producers of ConceptDraw offer a free converter program making .cdd files compatible with Visio and vice-versa. It can be found on the company's website.
